Aux portes du Morvan, au coeur de la Bourgogne.

Avallon aurait été une bourgade d'importance, au sein d'une contrée déjà largement occupée par des nations Celtiques, ceci durant le millénaire qui précède l'ère chrétienn. Puis elle fut une ville d'étape importante sur la voie Romaine Agrippa qui liait la méditerranée au nord de l'Europe.A l'origine, ceinte de remparts en bois, puis en pierre, elle fut fortifiée au cours des âges contre les multiples invasions sur un éperon granitique qui domine de 100 mètres la vallée du cousin.

Avallon would have been an important town, in a country already largely occupied by Celtic nations, this during the millennium preceding the chrétienn era. Then it was a milestone on the Roman city Agrippa route that linked the Mediterranean north of Europe.A originally surrounded with wooden walls and stone, it was fortified through the ages against multiple invasions on a granite outcrop that dominates the 100 meters cousin valley.
